"The Wedding"

Jenya (our Ukrainian daughter) got married on May 19. She married Igor Ivanov’s son Oleg. It was a beautiful ceremony. Jenya of course looked absolutely gorgeous. She is a rare girl because she is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside! Oleg made for a handsome groom and is a good compliment to Jenya in gifts, talents, abilities, and personality. We know the Lord will do mighty things thru this couple and we are excited. We were able to take them through the 7 week Pre marital program that is being translated. It went well and it blessed them very much to be able to take time to reflect on their future marriage and what God would have for them. We believe couples like them are going to be the “future” of Ukraine. We have attached some pics to this update. Be sure to check them out!
Just like in the States there is a lot of celebration and preparation for marriage. Dresses were being made, halls and church being rented, pre marital training, and of course parties. Jenya had a cross between a bachelorette party and a wedding shower. She received some nice gifts and fun with all of her friends. Christine was privileged to be there and I David went to the guys party in the woods where we barbequed among other things. We both had a lot of fun and when you consider that we are closer in age to their parents than to them, well I guess we must not act our age! Another thing that we both did that was a lot of fun is we had a “parents” party where the mothers and fathers both had separate activities. We were included in these because we are the “American” parents.
Steve Buie was here for the wedding and it was good to see him and catch up with what is happening in both of our lives. As many of you know we “blame” him and his wife for our lives as they are today! I say this “tongue in cheek” as we would not have it any other way. They are responsible for introducing us to Ukraine back in 2002 and the Lord took it from there. Like Steve likes to say “When the Lord wrecks your life you can never be the same” and that is so true for us. Thank you to the Buie’s for being faithful in our lives.
